Mr. Dunsavage travels to China
Earlier this summer, 9th grade Modern World History teacher Mr. Dunsavage traveled to China as a recipient of a Professional Development Scholarship by the global education company Education First (EF). The trip brought Mr. Dunsavage together with teachers, principals, and superintendents from all across the United States including Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Detroit. The group of educators explored Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai while visiting historical sites such as the Great Wall of China and Tiananmen Square. As part of the professional development tour, Mr. Dunsavage was able to visit two schools in China and discuss education with Chinese teachers and administrators. Additional highlights included seeing the Terracotta Warriors, biking on the Xi’an city wall, being in one of the tallest buildings in the world (located in Shanghai), and interacting with the people of China. The trip has given Mr. Dunsavage a new appreciation for Chinese history and a more global perspective on China’s role in the history of the modern world, which will be sure to benefit all of his current and future students.
